reikipicuturePerforming Reiki on the site of an injury or operation can help to reduce the amount of time it takes the injury to heal. Although the lady in the article below saw a massive improvement in her soccer injury and would always suggest that you go and get any injury or illness checked out with a doctor as well as doing REIKI.

chairmassage2Offering chair massage can help to boost your business and bring you new clients.  Chair massage can be done on bare skin so can be done in a salon environment.

But it can also been performed through clothes, therefore it lends it’s self to mobile massage treatments, where you go to the clients, these can be coorperate clients, where you take your massage chair into the client’s office, or you could rent space in a mall.

This makes massage more accessible to the public, and because they do not need to disrobe you will get a greater up take from people who are self conscious about their body image.

Reiki works on the whole body, physically, mentally and emotionally.  The Reiki practitioner channels the Reiki energy for the client.  However it is the Reiki client who pulls the Reiki energy through the practitioner.  This means that the client only takes as much Reiki as they need for that session.  Thus they can not overdose on Reiki Energy.

Description of Reiki

reikipicutureReiki is an energy healing art discovered in Japan by Doctor Mikao Usui.

Reiki has two syllables:- Rei meaning “Universal Life”  and Ki meaning “Energy”

So Reiki means “Universal Life Energy”. This is the energy that flows through all living things.

When a person becomes attuned to Reiki, that person is then able to channel this universal life force energy through their body.

Once a person has been attuned to Reiki they can perform a Reiki session from themselves and others.

Reiki works on all levels, physical, mental and emotional. It is excellent for helping to relieve anxiety and stress, once you heal the emotions, then the body follows.

An important part of a massage course is how to prepare the treatment room

Massage online courses

When studying a massage home study course, one of the most important aspects of the course is how to set up the treatment room to ensure your client has a nice relaxing treatment.

Below are some simple steps that you can take to ensure your client feels comfortable and pampered.

Ensure the treatment room is softly lit, warm with relaxing music playing in the background.

The treatment bed should be clean, have a towelling cover which covered by clean bed roll.

Two clean bath sheets should be available for the client.

Use two pillows or a pillow and a bolster.  Pillow cases should be clean and covered by clean bed roll.  One pillow is for under the head when the client is lying on their back.  The other or the bolster is for under the knees when the client is on their back and for under the ankles when the client is lying on their front.

Any window should have blinds so that no one can see in.

If there is more than one bed in the room, then bed should have curtains or blinds available to allow the client to have privacy then undressing and dressing.

A rolling trolley should be available to the therapist so that they can put the massage medium on it and move it around the bed as they work

Water and clean cups should be available for the client at the end of the treatment.

The treatment area should be comfortable and private as this helps to make the client relax, feel safe and shows that you are a professional therapist.

The treatment room set differs slightly, depending on the treatment you are performing.  For instance extra equipment will be required if your client has requested a Hot Stone Massage.

How Reiki courses changed my life for the better

reikipicutureReiki is a holistic system which uses safe, gentle non-intrusive hands on healing technique which uses spiritual energy for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of a person.

But for the practitioner it is much more. Reiki is not a therapy skill that you just learn like massage. It changes the practitioner themselves, if the practitioner performs self treatments on a regular basis. Reiki works to bring freedom, enlightenment, peaceful living, kindness and calmness into the practitioners life. Being able to treat other people is a by product of being able to channel Reiki.
When I was attuned to Reiki Level 1, the thing that struck me the most was how much calmer I felt. Before doing Reiki I felt that situations and problems hit me head on, making me feel anxious and stressed and invoking emotional reactions. Once I had done Reiki 1 I felt calmer, problems and situations that I could do nothing about stopped hitting me head on. They seemed to split in front of me and flow passed me, while I stayed calm and discerning and detached in the middle. I was able to distinguish what was important and dealt with that. Situations I could not change, stopped worrying me, leaving me feeling calmer, more relaxed and enjoying life. And because I felt calmer I wanted to help other people and bring harmony and calmness to their lives.
Following a Reiki attunement you go through a 21 day clearing process. The practitioner performs a self treatment every day to help this process. I do my self treatments at night in bed. This is because I found that Reiki will continue to flow for as long as you need it even if you fall asleep.   The first few night I was doing my self treatments I woke up about 3 or 4 am and could still feel the pins and needles tingling in the palms of my hands, and I was so thirsty. I never drink water in the middle of the night, but for about a week I was drinking a good pint. The pins and needles changed to feeling like I had a hot fifty pence in the middle of each palm, and my brain felt like it was expanding and pressing against my skull and this was uncomfortable and painful at times.
People at work noticed a change in me. I was working as a software engineer at the time and as usual everyone was working to unreachable deadlines, which used to cause me stress. But once I had been attuned to Reiki I stopped caring. This made me calmer, which meant I did not rush, made less mistakes and was actually more productive.
I told my close colleagues that I could channel Reiki and being engineers they raised their eyebrows and said – REALLY. –  One morning one of the lads, Ben had hurt his ankle playing football. He put his foot on my desk and said  – Come on Jesus, heal me –
Cheeky bugger – I thought, but I put my hands about an inch either side of his ankle, and started to channel Reiki.
At the beginning Ben was chatting away to one of the other lads, but after a minute or so he quiet. I looked up and he said – I can feel a pulsing sensation in my ankle, it feels just like when I had sonic treatment on it.
Later when I had become a Reiki Master I attuned Ben to Reiki.

massage home study courses, how to prepare as a therapist

Please share

Our massage home study courses teach you how you should prepare yourself as a massage therapist so that yoiu can present a professional image to you clients.

When working as a holistic therapist, your professional image is very important.  You need to show your clients that your are a professional person and that your reputation is important to you.

How you look when you greet your client’s gives them a first impression of you, so let’s make it a good one.

As the therapist you should :-

  1. Bathe daily and use an antiperspirant if required.  Body odour will certainly stop a client coming back for repeat treatments
  2. If you have long hair then tie your hair back, this will stop it getting in your eyes and stop it brushing against the client’s body while you are treating them.
  3. Remove all jewellery except wedding ring, again this is to stop jewellery brushing against the client while you are performing a treatment. Personally I take off my wedding ring, because client will natural exfoliate during a massage treatment, and I do not like the thought of dead skin cells getting caught under my ring
  4. Wear flat closed in shoes, this is for your safety, this will minimize the chance of you turning your ankle while performing a treatment.  The shoes are closed in to give your toes protection in case your drop any thing on them, this is especially important when perform hot stone or crystal massage.
  5. Wear clean comfortable trousers preferably black.  I suggest black because if you spill a product on your clothing, black does not show the spillage as easily as a lighter coloured fabric. So if the spillage occurred at the beginning of the day you do not look scruffy.
  6. Wear a non revealing top, such as a polo shirt or tunic.  You do not want to give clients the wrong impression and helps to stop unwanted sexual attentions
  7. Have short finger nails this stops you from scratching the client when performing the treatment
  8. Fresh breath. As you are working in close proximity to the client and strong unpleasant odour such as garlic or curry could spoil the clients experience.

The more professional you appear, the more seriously your clients will take you, and the more you business will grow.
