Course Profile:

 

This qualification is the practitioners’ certificate which equips you with the knowledge and expertise to carry out a full body swedish massage.

 

This qualification also allows you to gain insurance and enables you to work with the public either in salons, complementary health clinics, or self employed working mobile or from home.

 

Course Content:

  • Health, Safety and Security in the workplace 
  • Anatomy and Physiology 
  • The Benefits of Massage 
  • Contra-indications relating to massage. 
  • Contra-actions relating to massage. 
  • Preparing the work area. 
  • Client Consultation, Interpersonal Skills and Body Language 
  • Record Keeping. 
  • Patient Care 
  • Massage techniques including effleurage, pettrisage, tapotment and correct posture and stance. 
  • Client after-care advice.

Massage treatments will be conducted upon other members of the course. You will each have an opportunity to carry out a massage and receive the benefits of massage.

 

Entry Requirements:

 

No previous experience is required.  Though attendance of an Introduction to massage workshop would be beneficial.

 

VTCT Registration

 

A VTCT registration, assessment and verification fee of £66 is required.  This fee will be reduced if the candidate is already registered with VTCT.

 

Assessment Process

 

The candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which includes;

  • Tests  
  • written coursework via workbooks 
  • practical massage observations 
  • a number of massage case studies which are performed at home and must cover a range of different client types

Once the portfolio is complete, the candidate will perform a final observed treatment, and present their portfolio for assessment.
